Divorce: the domino effect?

A new survey suggests that there can be a divorce domino effect when a friend in a social circle becomes newly single.

They may make sweeping changes to their life, be out socialising, indulging in hobbies and buying new gadgets making the grass seem greener on the other side.

So much so that some people surveyed say that their decision to separate and divorce their partner was swayed by friends who had done the same.

Almost one in four men and one in seven women admitted this was the case.

One in ten confessed that they just wanted the same happiness or excitement that their newly single friends had.

Samantha Lee, expert divorce lawyer at Swain & Co Solicitors says, “This is dangerous territory. It is important to remember that no two relationships are the same; therefore no two divorces will be the same.”

“Divorce is an emotional time for all parties, especially when children are involved and often it might be a case that in fact the grass is not always greener. The divorce process is not likely to be the same as a friend because it does not involve the same people.”
