Statistics released by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) show that less people are accessing legal advice since the drastic legal aid cuts imposed in April 2013.
The statistics show a 45% fall in assistance being provided in housing matters.
There was also a fall of 60% in family cases.
Mary-Anne Beedle, family lawyer, says, “There is no doubt that this is impacting on the most vulnerable. People were able to access help before, now they cannot. I doubt that people have just stopped needing help, it is more likely they are just not able to access it”
However, it is important to remember that Legal Aid IS still available and help is out there.
