A new study, published in the journal Family Relations, suggests that couples who argue about money frequently or early on in their relationship are more likely to divorce.
Authint Mail reports that the researchers at the University of Kansas analysed data from a national household survey.
Assistant Professor Sonya Britt says that money was by far the biggest predictor of divorce for both men and women. She also says it does not matter how much or how little people earned, money arguments were the top predictor for divorce because they occur at all levels.
Nicola Whitley, expert divorce lawyer at Swain & Co says, “Whatever leads to or predicts divorce patterns, does not make going through it any easier.”
“Divorce is an emotionally difficult time for those facing it and it is vital that they get legal advice and support as early as possible to try and make the process easier.”
